Our Goal
To support and promote
quilting activities throughout the Province of Nova Scotia.
We support our goal by:
Ø
Providing a forum for
quilters to meet and exchange ideas and expertise.
Ø
Bringing quilt experts
to Nova Scotia for lectures and workshops.
Ø
Providing in-house quilt
education.
Ø
Providing support to
the community through quilting projects.
Ø
Fostering creativity
and originality in quilting and needlework.
Ø
Maintaining both the
tradition and the history of quilting in Nova Scotia.
Our History
Mayflower Handquilters' Society was founded in 1974 by a group of quilters who
were interested in exchanging quilt patterns, ideas and fabric.
The original founders were, at the time, attending a continuing education quilting
class at Bicentennial Junior High School in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Since that time, Mayflower has undergone many changes, including a name change
in 1998. We are now known as Mayflower Quilters' Guild. Membership has increased from the original 8 to approximately 250
today from around the Province, throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. We continue to offer our membership
a variety of workshops, lectures, in-house education and friendships.

is housed at the Dartmouth North Community Centre and is open to all Mayflower members during the monthly meetings.
Newsletter
Points East is the name of Mayflower’s monthly newsletter. It is mailed/emailed
to all members of Mayflower and remains the “thread” that binds us together. Submissions are due on the 28th of
each month.
