Have you been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or
do you have a man in your life who has? If so, you can take part in a project to promote prostate cancer awareness.
The quilt will be made of pieces of men’s ties
sewn together into blocks, which will then be sewn together to make a large quilt. Each piece of tie will be embroidered with
the name of a man who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Ties were chosen because there are times in a man’s
life when he has to wear a tie. He may not want to but sometimes it is necessary. There also comes a time in a man’s
life when he should have prostate exams. He may not want to but it is also necessary.
Our hope is that with more awareness and research
prostate cancer will become easier to diagnose and treat.
If any Mayflower members or any other quilting groups or quilters would like
to make a block to add to the quilt, contact Brenda Penny 902-435-5737 or quiltnurse@hotmail.com for block details.
If
you do not have a tie to send in but would like to have a name included in the quilt, just call or e-mail Brenda.
If
you would like to send in a tie please write the name to be embroidered on a piece of paper and pin it to the tie. Ties can be mailed to:
